Bosnian pyramid
have you heard about it? There pretty convincing evidence about pyramids in place near Sarajevo called Viskoko. They guess that in the valley Visocica are placed 3 pyramids, and the biggest Bosnian pyramid of the Sun is bigger than Keops`s pyramid in egypt. all angles of pyramid are equal and its turned towards the pole star. if this all coniforms, history would completly change, because they think that pyramid is made by a civilisation 12 000 years ago, that would be europe s oldest cilivlisation!

Pyramids in Europe!
I'm really intrigued about this. Exactly what evidence has been found? Do you have a link to a report or article about it?
What exactly do you mean when you say
Quote:

its turned towards the pole star

Which part of the pyramid is turned toward the pole star? And doesn't the pole star move around in the sky?
Is there any corroborating evidence whatsoever of a 12 000 year old civilisation which existed in Europe? Wouldn't we need some before throwing the history books away and writing new ones?

Bosnian Pyramid
Hmm, the 'evidence' seems to consist of a bit of local folklore, and the enthusiasm of a guy called
Quote:
|
Osmanagic, a businessman and author of several books on other civilizations
|
- not an archaeologist, or a historian or anything. A salesman.
The site seems to be big on hype, big on advertising links, but virtually devoid of actual evidence about the existence of the 'pyramid'.
There's a very exciting webcam to show the 'pyramid' being excavated, but unfortuately it doesn't work.
The links to a photo section took me to an online gambling site, and the photo of the pyramid shown on the home page of the site looks very impressive, but I think it's in South America.
Sorry, not even a remotely clever or interesting hoax, but I like the whole idea of there being pyramids in Europe, it's really kitsch. Maybe they'll find the lost city of Atlantis in Switzerland. :)

Well, the proper site to find out more would be:
http://www.bosnianpyramids.org/
And in the forums there, it seems to be a heated argument whether it's a piramid or not... !!
Personally i would withhold my judgement until one day they can announce it one way or another.

Bosnian Pyramids
I've had a look at the site, and the first thing which caught my attention was "Archaeologist Semir Osmanagic"
This is the same guy who is described as a businessman and author on the other site. Maybe his degree has just arrived in the mail. If you google him, he is variously described as an "archaeologist" an "amateur archaeologist", a "researcher", an "explorer"....
The excitement seems to emanate more from the potential marketing and tourism opportunities than the strength of the actual evidence. Sadly, because of the troubles in recent times, the local economy is probably desperately in need of a boost. There also seems to be a lot of cultural pride involved, and judging by the guestbook, there is a nasty little dispute over whether Bosniaks, Turks or Serbs can claim credit for the achievement of having built the thing.
The "Statements from prominent archaeologists from around the world" turn out to be from exactly two archaeologists, one of whom thinks the structures could be "monumental elite tombs from the pre-Roman period", which fits in quite comfortably with the accepted history of the area, but he doesn't mention pyramids. The other, an Egyptian scholar, thinks that it's possible there are pyramids, but is skeptical about them being more than 7000 years old, as claimed.
Not exactly a rousing endorsement from the global intellectual community - lukewarm at best.
The photos are all incredibly lame. They could be of absolutely anything.
Then again, as you say, who knows what evidence may turn up - it certainly seems to be a large scale project. I'll certainly watch the developments with interest.

Pyramid FUN
That's a bit harsh, May! Spurious claims about bizarre archaeological finds are at least FUN! and interesting on a number of levels, even if they seem just a little far-fetched and silly.
Don't you find it interesting to ponder why people want to believe in such things?

What I regard as a bit strange is the fact that this pyramids had been burried throughout the years. How can this happen, while those pyramids in Egypt are still looming on the surface?
