2. Pointers to dressing up right
3. Five common Dressing up mistakes
* Wearing brown shoes with black, blue or grey trousers
* Going to an interview with sleeves rolled up
* Wearing a tie with a check short is a strict "NO".
* Going overboard with your favorite cologne
* Wearing prominent jewelery

Preparation is the key. Apart from the grooming discussed above, which is very important, take time to know about the company you are visiting - their products and services, their USP in the market, image, last fiscal turnover. These facts will serve you very well during any interview. Also, keep two examples ready of how you met particular challenges in your previous assignments relevant to the job you are seeking.

Another point to add is never reach to an interview huffing and puffing. Reach atleast half an hour before; relax, take a deep breath, and think positive. Be polite and say thanks to everyone, shaking there hands.

And never try to act "know all'. This attitude will kill whatever chance you might have...

Needless to say you have to be formally dressed. No flashy clothes; no jeans, and no T-shirts. Definitely NO slippers - nice or otherwise.

Ok, sorry bout the question.
but one has said about shaking hands. So, should we shake even if they don't want???
Sometime the interview tests you patience by not asking anything to you but chatting with them only.
Beware and be patient they will ask some silly thing like what is behind you or what was the color of the door mat or things like that to test your concentration.
Am I right?

Only arrogants will say no, when you want to shake hands. It is better not to work with these bosses and say goodbye to them.
The interview depends upon what kind of job they offer. There are jobs specially like sales and marketing kind where sales men meet different customers daily. Meeting each customer makes the sales men rich with different experience. The applicant has to show restraint. Some positions need odd hour working. Many times they are not used to it and do mistakes. The applicant is judged for every behaviour.

For my first interview, I wasn't nervous at all, and I passed through it with a breeze. The day before, I went on the company's website and researched a bit about them. It is always smart to bring up a piece of information that you researched because that will show the person that you really did your homework. Besides that, just dress right. Another thing I also did was go on msn, and yahoo and read all of the interview tips and follow them. I got hired immediately on the spot, and it was great.

wow congratulations,
being hired on the spot is something worth being proud of i guess, my best record was being hired (on the phone) the next day
checking up the company before the interview is indeed a great 'homework' that just has to be done if you ever wanna be successful in the interview

Your hair should be clean and combed.Nails should be clean and trimmed.Be conservative and err on the side of caution. If the company does not have a dress code, remember that its better to overdress than underdress.Arrive at least 10 minutes before your interview. The extra minutes will also give time to fill out any forms or applications that might be required.Turn off your cell phone or pager.
