choosing a hard drive

There is not much to choose among harddisks. While Cgate 10.20 GB harddisk would cost around Rs 4,500, a Samsung or a Fujitsu harddisk could cost slightly less, say, 100$. A Cgate or a Samsung harddisk would be preferable. The RAM is one part about which nothing can be said. A lot of companies manufacture RAMs and each one indistinguishable from the other. Though RAM is on the OGL, much of the supply is through unauthorised channels. Except for manufacturers of branded products which have firm tie-ups with reputed companies, most assemblers do not have a choice of the RAMs they buy. So too is the case for the buyers. A 64 MB RAM, which is generally preferred for easier access to the Internet, costs around less than a 100$.
