References ?

How important are references in the interview . I mean is it always that a person with reference is far better off than a person without a reference . ?
I think i have only one reference on my resume and feel that people with more references are always preferred over ?
Have you ever had any experience with references ?

To me I guess its really important if its a big job your going for. Lets say you worked for a really popular well known company then it is really important. Because, if you worked for a really good company and they called them up and got a REALLY good review about you, then that must mean alot and it will definately increase your chance of getting hired. If you put lesser known companies, I'm not sure how much it will help but it definately won't hurt. After all, it is good to have references than having none.

But what if a person is talented enough but still doesnot have any references . That can happen quite easily as they may have built their skill set on their own and they might not be knowing big names , in that case I think its really wrong to put away a resume with no references at all.

My dear friends,
Those References plays a vital role to judge the persons abilities and it's like a ready reckoner for the interviewer.
The candidate's credentials are being balanced through such references.
Ofcourse the reference should be genuine otherwise there will be a mess later on.

But what I am saying is that sometimes a person has enough skills and talent and experience to carry on the job , but unfortunately , he doesnot have ant references . but this sometimes weighs against him getting the job which should not be there . Also these days anyone can get a good references and there are people i know who put up fake references just because o their relations and links . so this is like selecting a wrong candidate in the end .
