My Drop of Ink... may make you think ...

My dear friends,
A person's state of mind has the most influence on the outcome of every situation in life.
Developing the ability to govern our state of mind is the cornerstone of self-actualization because our state of mind determines our perception and our behavior.
Our state of mind consists of three main components:
internal representations, physiology, and genetic factors.
Although other people and events may influence them, our internal representations are the internal source of our emotions, attitudes, values, beliefs, and understandings.
These representations become the habits and patterns that determine what we picture in our mind and communicate to ourself.
Our internal images and self-talk have a great impact on our emotional reactions and determine whether or not
we are motivated to take positive action.
Remember…We ALWAYS have a choice when it comes to our perception (how we re-present things to ourself).
Our physiology is made up of a number of things: biochemistry, what we eat, intoxicants, nervous energy, breathing, posture, muscle tension or relaxation, etc. Our physiology has a strong effect on our moods and emotional reactions as well as our motivation.
Our genetic factors are the last component of our state of mind.
This is the component that we have the least control over.
It is a well-known fact that the two fears that we are born with are the fear of loud noises and the fear of falling.
These are genetic factors and we have little control over them when we are born, but if we are a skydiver we have been trained to access a calm state of mind during free fall. And as an adult we are less likely to be startled by thunder.
Or for example, if a person is born with a chemical imbalance it can be difficult but not necessarily impossible to govern their state of mind.
Ultimately genetic factors have a great effect on motivation and Emotional Intelligence.

I've always wondered how much of a role genetics played in your thought proces..Does that mean that if your father gets mad easily then you most likely will get mad easily too? I'd like to think that most people have a control on their state of mind and that their control is much greater than the role genetics has..

Genetic factors have roles to play

Yes dear consultant,
Mind set is on the grasping of the situations, analyzing the factors and evolving methods.
