Problem in decryption of files in windows xp

Hey frenz,

I recently messed up with my system.....

A few months ago i encrypted certain files and folders on one of my NTFS partitioned drives E: in XP Pro.....

I don't know that all encryption keys and certificates will be stored in my (user) profile and in my OS-installed drive, which in my case is Drive C:

A few days ago i formatted my C: drive to install a fresh copy of my OS...

After successfully installing,i found to my dismay that i was unable to access those(encrypted) files and folders denying access to me,the administrator!

now i am completely unable to even view them.....

i've used certain softwares that help view NTFS files.....

I was able to open them, but, they appeared to me only in the encrypted form...!!!

when i tried to decrypt them with many encrypt/decrypt softwares they first instruct me to encrypt them and then decrypt which is really annoying.

so,any software geek who knows how to tackle such a situation may please post ur view as i extremely need those files....

Thanx in advance..........

lol
sad case,
...i experimented with that problem previously and found that its really annoying and troublesome.....winxp does allow special backup user accounts to decrypt the files, but the thing is you formatted your pc and lost all system and user settngs, so i dont think it is recoverable easily....

that said, you can try this out
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...y/cryptfs.mspx
this page contains data recovery info that might help you,
although i dont think anything will work lol

all the best ramamaru
you're gonna need all the luck there is lol

Well all i can say is...please accept my condolences...

The trick is probably to never use the confusing xp encryption system. It's better to rely on 3rd party software that are more straightforward.

The best bet would be to get hold of microsoft support themselves and ask
for a solution, see if you could do that.

Sorry my friend....
