Was it bad publicity that killed the PS3?
It is the advice of more and more developers and publishers who start gaining trust again in the console's potential and make sure there is a chance for their creations to launch on it. Why does Sony's PS3 disappointing debut mean that the console's future is necessarily a bad one? I think that every console's future is uncertain and the PS3's is no more uncertain than the other's. It's just had a bit of a rough start but now, it surely compensates with what it brings.
The truth is that PS3’s rivals have sold pretty good and some have
even broken sales records but let's not forget that Sony's home entertainment systems never had as many problems as others, nor did they present customers with bad warranty policies and other disappointing issues. It truly is an elegant piece of work and just a quick glance at it will tell you a whole lot of what it can do.
Have you ever heard as many complaints about Sony as this year? If competition hadn't been fierce, the PS3's name wouldn't have been surrounded by such criticism and bad publicity. Why doesn't everybody just give it a break? Enough is enough.
Whether it is good or bad, publicity of any nature will only help people remind them of an object's existence and the more they talk about it, the more they become intrigued by it and eventually make a choice. So, in terms of publicity (whatever the nature), I think it's safe to say that the PS3, 360 and Wii have had their equal amount of it and now it's just up to the consumer's preferences.
The bad debut of the console will surely be a negative factor in its journey towards the hearts of consumers, but he who has had a PS console before knows exactly what to expect from a Sony product and won't switch to other machines just because of rumors.
