What is Web Hosting :

You may launch your web site in either of the two ways. One, on your internet connected system doing its maintenance, protection and administrative work yourself. The second way which is more desirable (and widely used) is to entrust this to one of the many web services companies whose business is to launch and run your web site on their more resourceful and powerful networked system; make it available on the net on 24x7 basis and provide necessary speed, security and administration.

This method is called Web Hosting. These web hosting companies are profitable because they host scores of such web sites on their system (web servers, application and database servers) sharing resources under mutually agreed terms. Any updates to your file(s) can be remotely done by you from your system or even this task may be entrusted to the web hosting company.

If you want other people to view your web site, you must copy your site to a public server. Even if you can use your own PC as a web server, it is more common to let an Internet Service Provider (ISP) host your site.Included in a Web hosting solution you can expect to find domain name registration and standard email services.
