Views on World War 2 and how it created the world today

Hey people, just saw something interesting,
visit this site

http://www.euronet.nl/users/wilfried/ww2/ww2.htm

rollover your mouse to the main image and notice the rollover text which says...
"World War II created the world in which we live today"

Interesting thought, what do you guys think, personally, that sort of shows that the World War II was a good thing, coz without it, we wouldn't be what and who we are now, so all the killings of innocent people and all in that war, it's supposed to be a good thing, sacrifice for better good?

what's your say?

Haven't visted the site you have mentioned yet, but I dont see any humanity in that sentence...infact if there was no WW II, the all the energies would have been spent in doing better stuff instead of plotting each other's destruction.

Axis Role in World War 2

Hello everyone :D :D :D

While going through history we always go thru the allied version of world war 2...any way if any of you are intersetd to go thru the history of the axis power refer the website www.feldgrau.com it is one of the best website which has studied the german army since World War 1. Though the germans had commited lots of war crimes... still they had been one of the best professional soldiers during the world war 2 campaign. Anyway no one prays for war so lets hope our generation will not repeat the same mistake.

For 2 reasons, you can't possibly say that WW2 was a good thing :

1- the holocaust
2- Hiroshima and Nagasaki

i thought that's common sense. And in spite of these extremes, WW2 taught nothing to humanity. I think it is exactly the contrary. Gunthers Anders took part in the post war debate trying to warn about the repetition of manslaughter and he said something like "We are part of the generation who tried so hard for years to understand the past events to warn people from its repetition - but who knew, filled with fear, that what happened once could happen a second time with less impact".

and recent history completely proved him right. it keeps happening, and the more it happens, the less we care.

Let not forget that the Russians itself killed 20 million of their own people during and after WW2. Not jews. Their own people.

The 'Allies' took away Palestine from the Palestinians and made Israel. This is why their are middle east problems today. As punishment the 'Allies' should have taken half of Germany, and given it to the jews.

The 'Allies' took Kuwait from Iraq. That's why Saddam tried to take it back. It was part of Iraq from over 3000 years.

We humans never learn from our mistakes. Whether it is war during medieval times or modern wars like world wars, we have been the loosers. Still we keep on fighting among ourselves for petty reasons. Though it may not be of same magnitude just like the world wars.

In a way, i do believe that the World War did created the world we live in today. I also believe the world need tyrants from time to time. These two thing have their own purposes in a weird and cruel way, but they do pushed the world forward.

I think the Civil War also shaped who and what we are as a nation. Let's not forget, we learned rubbing faces for losing in that war. We treated our own people like dirt, why would you expect us to treat foreigners any different.
I think the biggest change in the world since WW2 is technology. We finally had alien technology to copy and learn from. Look how far we have come in such a short time technology wise. Think about how long it took to get to that point from the industrial revolution. Need I say more?
