What drink is best while exercising?

Exercising more is not one of my resolutions for the new year, but if it was, I'd want to know what I should drink to help stay hydrated. You would think the obvious choice would be water, but if you don't like the taste of water, your fluid intake would be better drinking something that tastes good to you. Another thing to keep in mind is that hydration is a matter of the body's ion balance. Sports drinks include electrolytes, which is a longer word for 'ions'. When you exercise, electrolytes may be lost in perspiration or used in the biochemical reactions associated with exercising. Restoring your electrolytes while intaking water won't matter much to someone who is just going to jog around the block, but you can throw your system out of balance or just make yourself vomit if you drink too much pure water too quickly after extremely strenous exercise or if you are very light (e.g., water poisoning in babies).
