I had cells removed from my cervix .......
Question:
I had cells removed from my cervix using laser treatment for HPV. Will this hurt my chances of becoming pregnant in the future?
Answer:
No, as long as the laser surgery was not real extensive. Usually laser ablation of the cervix does not affect the cervical glands and has no bearing on future pregnancies.
If they didn't remove too much of the cervix. The cervix is like a sieve, and it houses the sperm to help it up the genital tract over hours to days. That is really important for fertility. The more sperm in these reservoirs, the better. In general, laser procedures, as long as they don't destroy a lot of the cervix, you do OK. Once you get pregnant, if too much of the cervix was removed, there could be a problem. But so many women get this done, and it usually has no effect.
