Will training for a marathon affect my fertility?
I would advise most women trying to conceive to pursue moderate -- not strenuous -- exercise. Strenuous training alters the hormonal axis and may render women infertile. Even women who are ovulating regularly may have a higher risk of miscarriage if they are doing strenuous exercise. Those are things not recommended when trying to conceive or when one is pregnant. Certainly there are anecdotal stories of women who conceive despite heavy training, but usually running three or four times a week an hour a day is probably enough.
