Gas Price on the Rise

"U.S. power and influence has declined precipitously because of Iraq and the war on terror and that creates an incentive for anyone who wants to make trouble to go ahead and make it." As an example, Soros pointed to the regime in Iran, which is heading towards a confrontation with the West over its nuclear power program and doesn't show any signs of compromising. "Iran is on a collision course and I have a difficulty seeing how such a collision can be avoided," he says.

Another emboldened troublemaker is Russian president Vladimir Putin, Soros said, citing Putin's recent decision to briefly shut the supply of natural gas to Ukraine. The only bit of optimism Soros could offer was that the next 12 months would be most dangerous in terms of any price shocks, because beginning in 2007 he predicts new oil supplies will come online.

See this is why I think we should work together rather than fight eachother. Not only will you have greater returns but the world just might be a happier place :D

Anyhow does anyone else worry about the pending gas price hikes that look like they will reach 3.00 a gallon plus by August or sooner?

Let me know

Well, ever since Katrina the gas prices went up like crazy. Chevron did find a new oil well down in the Gulf but that wont affect the prices until the year 2007. Lately, the price has been going back down. I've seen it in the high 1.90s lately. Hopefully it'll stay this low, cause frankly I'm sick of paying for Gas above $2.00

I think the reason for the increased burden on the people is the actions of successive US Presidents - with Bush being the biggest offender. Bush’s ambitious plans to make the US the world's only super power has driven the world to the brink of a major war. The confrontation with Iran is heading towards danger. If you look at the beginning of every terror organisation you will see that they all had some connection with the US at its infancy. So, US has been responsible for the development of these terror groups. Now these groups have turned their guns on US their god father at one time!

Bush hasn't been the greatest president, yes I agree. He got himself into a mess with Iraq. By the time its time for a new election, Iraq won't be recovered. He came close to war with North Korea and Iran. Next thing you know, some other country is going to do something and Bush will get on there case. Basically, every country just needs to mind there own business, and not bug the others, nor harm the others. But, unfortunately, that won't ever happen. So we will have to put up with this for a while.

Astro99, in a global perspective it is not possible to mind one's own business as the entire world today is one community. It is cheaper to call US from Sri Lanka than to go by public transport to Kandy - a distance of 72 Miles in Sri Lanka. This explains how close the world community is due to the development of communication infrastructure. But, the matter is President Bush has over steeped his limits and obligations. He took upon himslef to dethrone monarchs and rulers whom he thought were not towing his thinking. If the people of Iraq are satisfied with the type of governance they have I cannot fathom why Bush must be worried about bringing democracy to Iraqis. Today, his actions have backfired and young US citizens are returning home in body bags. Is the price worth paying?

The price is definitely not worth paying. And yes, you arae correct. It is not possible to mind someones own business in the global aspect, but we have to try our best. Most countries do a good job of it. Bush does have a right to talk to other countries, but not threaten then and force them to take actions. The UN is supposed to solve that, not Bush. Whoever the next president will be, will do a much better job.
