What does asthma feel like?
Asthma symptoms typically ‘come and go’. Your child will have trouble breathing and a tight feeling in the chest, and you will be able to hear wheezing when he or she breathes or coughs. These symptoms often occur during play and other exercise or during the night.
An ‘asthma attack’ is when the symptoms rapidly become more severe, usually rather suddenly. During an asthma attack, your child will have more severe trouble breathing.
Your child may get used to the asthma symptoms and may not realise that breathing is more difficult than it should be. When your child’s asthma is under good control, the airways are clear and air flows easily in and out.
