Immigration Reform

In Washington yesterday Immigration-rights supporters showed yesterday that they can turn out well over a million marchers. Now they hope politicians will see those marchers as votes.

See I don't know if I am understanding all that is going on here. By that I mean this; whats the big deal anyway isn't America the Melting Pot of the World? I mean when did we start saying you can't come in? Maybe I am just wrong in saying that though. Let me know what you think on the subject.

Thanks

But it seems like our immigration policies have always been heavily biased based on race and class. At one time, we tried to keep out the "filthy Irish." After them it was someone else and then someone else that we found unacceptable.

Someone told me they thought it was reprehensible that some of the marchers were waving Mexican flags. I asked them how they felt about people waving the Irish flag on St. Patrick's day in Chicago. They didn't have a problem with that. Why not? They are now the "right kind" of immigrants.

This is true with being the right kind but then what about those that are not and coming over here and causing problems getting in trouble with the law...and why do we have to feed them and house them while they sit in prison...we have enough to feed and support in prison of US citizens let alone people from other countries....

I have lived a long time in the area I am in ...now more and more hispanics are moving in and I have nothing against people from a diffrent country or culture actually rather a learning experince...

But why dont they want to learn our language....I was here frist in my country and they come from Mexico...only a small child is able to tell them what I say and how do I know that they are really saying what I have to say...
