Gas Price Increasing!

I drive by one gas station and low and behold its at 2.26 per gallon for regular. I drive by the same gas station 45 minutes to an hour later and the price has sky rocketed to 2.46 per gallon of regular. Is Spring the one to blame? Do we actually drive more in Spring as opposed to any other time of year?

I just want to know why the gas is increasing what seems like on a daily basis? If anyone can help me that would be wonderful.

Part of the problem in late spring, as I understand it, is that in the U.S., refineries switch to summer formulations that are intented to cut down on smog. Why they get caught short-handed each year is beyond me.

Could it have anything to do with the fact that the higher the price, the more billion dollar bonuses their CEO's can get?

Wish it was that easy that the CEO's need more money...but with all the things happening in the Middle East and we are invading terriory where some dont want us to be ...is some of the reason the gas prices are high...

Now the other day heard that the Alaska pipe line is shut down for a bit due to corrosion...some places now are charging over 4.25 a gal...

Will we see a higher increase and will it come down once they repair it ...and how long will it take to repair it?????????

Well, lately I've been getting some good deals on gas. I can get gas for under $2 a gallon now. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. But for a while, I was pretty fed up. Alot of the companies had many many excuses to raise the price, and get away with it. In my opinion, they did so. I used to have to pay almost $3 for a gallon. I'm glad now that the prices are way more reasonable, and under $2.

Yes I am in Wisconsin and the prices did drop down where you could finally go more than a block from the house. Once it got closer to the election day the prices did rise back up almost a dime with in a week. Now i see it is back inching a few cents a week. I just hope it does not climb up there again. Right now we are at 229 a gallon.

Wow, that's still pretty expensive. I live in Houston, TX. The prices were always on the rise. But, when Hurricane Katrina and Rita hit, the prices were crazy. We were up around $3 a gallon. It was said that many of the gas companies used the hurricanes as an excuse to raise the price, and I think that is true. Now the prices are fine, they are under $2 a gallon. peachey did the hurricanes affect your gas prices?

Oh yes it did not only gas prices but everything you buy went up the electric company is soaring out bills, gas for heating went up and now again yesterday I was out and see the prices again up to 239.

I just see the gas companies and others profiting off this so much. Soon the goverment will have to step in and tell them to stop...hope now with new sente and house we will see some good changes..but as always I doubt it.

Yeah, hurricanes and other natural disasters are an EASY way for companies to raise prices because they can just use the disaster as an excuse. But what I wonder is how many of the companies really are affected by the disaster. They found a new oil rig down in the Gulf which is supposed to make oil LOTS cheaper, but that won't be until 2007 or so. But every year, there is always going to be a hurricane, so I guess gas companies must like hurricane season the best.

I have to agree with you on the hurricane season and gas prices going up.
I have not heard about the new rig found in the gulf...be interesting to see if it going to with stand the hurricanes.

Did you know thou though all the hurricanes and other times that there is enough oil in reserve to last for years and also the line that suppose to have been damage from the hurricane was only down for a couple of days. Problem is the oil refiners seems or say they can not keep up...

Gee anyone have an idea of a business if this is the case. If refiners can not keep up ..gee add on they make enough money to do this ...

Does anyone hear own a gas business or something? Cause I want to know. Yeah, hurricane season will usually always make oil prices go up. I mean they had an excuse for Katrina, but for Rita I don't remember that hitting any oil rigs. I remember when Rita was coming here, people evacuated and headed for Dallas. All the gas stations from here to Dallas were out of gas. Yeah, that raised prices up quite nicely too..

And some of the reason you might of not had gas was delivery due the storm. They may not wanted the trucks out due to the storm and people just keep filling till the stations ran out of gas.

I know here when we are going to get a bad snow storm or when they are calling for sever cold weather the stations are jammed with people filling their cars up. And too if the storm is too bad the delivery trucks will not deliver till the storm is past and clean up is done.

Which I can not blame them. Rather have no gas for a day then a terrible accident with some fuel spilt all over and might start a fire. With the explosion could do more harm.
