Minor League Teams

We skip the expensive, overblown hype of major league baseball in favor of our local minor league team. It is the baseball I remember from my childhood - pure fun. Our team is the St. Paul Saints. Does anyone else out there follow minor league baseball?

Sure do! We're big, big fans of the Dayton Dragons - Class A farm club for the Cincy Reds. This is a lot of guys straight out of high school or still going to college and playing during the summer.

This is their sixth season. We got to see both Austin Kearns and Adam Dunn play in the inaugural year. It's been a blast watching them play in The Show down in Cincy.

We have a fabulous stadium downtown. It has great seating and these wonderful lawn areas. And the people who operate the team do just a fabulous job. A couple of summers ago, my son got hit with a foul ball, and they just made him feel so special the whole time he was there.

Tell me about the Saints? Who's system are they in?

I guess for those who live in a town with the only professional team being a minor league team, they like to follow them. I like minor league baseball because I like to see how the players develop and watch young prospects become stars. I follow the players in the minor league system, but not minor league baseball teams. I can see how people like it, especially if it's the only team in their town.
