blazingcow is on a distinguished road
Terrorism as become the first worry of politicians all over the world. Full scale terorism, that is. It is true that they are all separate groups striking locally and punctually. But since september 11, things have become much different on the world's politics, they striked the untouchable. They have striked in Spain, UK ever since and there appears much more dangerous than you say.

terrorism is led by some group of fanatics..they can achieve short term goals by spreading terror but they cannot start world war 3 or any sort of nuclear holocast as they dosn't represent any separate country and no country can openly support terrorism.
No country can openly support terrorism... that's right somehow, eventhough some countries say can be pretty slow or unwilling to stop it (aka palestinia) or help them when terrorism could serve their own cause (wester coutries had many times helped terrorism to create civil wars). What is going on in my opinion pretty much looks like a world war because everyone is concerned by terrorism, yet it is a much more underground-ish and strategic kind of war. Strings are being pulled all over the world and negociation are being made. And this is not close to stop eventhough things seem much quieter these days.
