There are various types of audio capabilities that may come with your television:

I think DVD audio is the newest technology that is fast fast catching up and like old technologies , the mono will fade out eventually . the quality of sound has been playing a great part in the purchases of the music systems as the average consumer is getting aware and also because of the fact that the availability and ease of use that generally is soming with the DVd audio . You jsut need to switch your devices for that though .
