Creating a peaceful workspace

So often, we set up our home office and it becomes a drop off for homework, household bills, and just lots of extra junk. Your family thinks your computer is a family computer, and you are always having to kick your kids off. How do you set up an "office zone" where you can get the work done?

I have the same dilemma at home. I often wake up in the morning, looking forward to getting some work done, only to find out that my "office space" is invaded and currently occupied. I have yet to find something more annoying than this. A probable solution to this, I guess, is to assert that this is your space and your space should be respected.

Home and Work

I see the same here. Recently let eveyone know that I have to do this here due to some health problems I have had and recently had to quit my job.
I have set the office that I work in at home to an off limits to anyone that is in the house. That is my work area. I have also posted sign stating at and one at the door way that they need to knock before coming in. This helps when you are in the middle of something and need to finish before you answer a question.

The family has to help in this area and we need to just let them know that we need to do our work and not have to clean before we do. I myself can get a lot done if I get up early and get to it. Without taking time to clean an area I am able to get alots more done with out being flustered from all the stuff that does not belong there.

I hope you can find a good solution to your problem.

I think a good solution would be to buy a second PC. If there is your "office" with your PC and you make it clear this is just for you to work and nothing else, and than have a second PC in another room where anybody else can play or be online on. This would keep them away from yours and they would be occupied.

AGREE

I personal dont have that probem, I have my own, problem was oh a place to put something and gets cludderd easy.

But I agree with you on your own computer. If you are using it for work you have to have your own. I know I do. When I want to work I do not want to fight over the computer.

Ok, well still the second computer is a solution for having family members that think the work computer is a family computer and available all the time for internet or playing games.

I think for homework every kid should have it's own desk in their room, where they can create their own work space and take care of the homework there. Household bills, well I think having the bills at your work desk and to take care of them there and than file them in your office can not be bad.
