Can GPS systems spy on you?

Maybe I'm paranoid, but can the navigation system in my car monitor my movement, or hear my conversations in the car? Is that possible, or am I just freaking out for no reason?

Send a message via Yahoo to humpty
I think you're freaking out for no good reason lol

Briefly...
it basically sends a signal out to a station where it can pick the signal, and from that, determine your location.

So, unless you've got a super hightech GPS that has got video monitoring, you really have nothing to worry about :)

they can monitor your whereabouts and such, but no video footage or anything, unless it's used together with other spy systems :)

When you have GPS, are you the only one that is monitoring yourself, or can other people monitor you? I think it can go both ways if there is more than one person monitoring you. Say your car gets stolen, then if their is more than one person who is monitoring your location, then they can find out where your car is. But if it doesn't get stolen, it's kind of creepy knowing that someone always knows where you are..

It's getting to be more and more like George Orwell's 1984 isn't it? I am sure that no-one is checking up on you unless it's your significant other. haha. But I guess the technology is there if you wanted to wire everyone up and peek.
