Reading glasses vs. contact lenses
Most people prefer using contact lenses over eye glasses because of fashion-reasons but I suggest think it twice.
It was E.A. Frick who made the first contact lens in 1887. By 1912 Carl Zeiss designed glass lenses; however, it was not until 1938 that the first plastic lenses were developed.
The oxygen coming from the air dissolved in tears is needed by the cornea of the eye. This is the reason why the eyes blink several times a minute-to spread the tear water over the eyeballs. With contact lenses the eyes do not get enough air because the lenses interfere with the amount of tears reaching the eyes.
Nowadays, everyone prefers contact lenses to eye glasses for cosmetic reasons. But nevertheless, contact lenses move with the eyeball, they do not restrict the sight as glasses may do.
