Is it safe for women to backpack?

Hi!

Is it safe for women to go backpacking anymore? Remember the two women who were murdered in Yosemite a couple of years ago? I love backpacking, but I don't feel safe anymore.

Exactly, i'm worried about that too,
and I think women should find a male companion or companions when they go backpacking, at least it's safer,
get a good one, not one who needs your protection in return lol

have you tried backpacking ajharper?
I've always dreamt of it, but worried too much sighz

I used to go backpacking with my mum when I was younger but I wouldn't go alone or with another female now, I think its too dangerous. I'd feel much safer with my husband instead or other male company.

I wish to know what backpacking is

I must admit I am not well-informed of backpacking. Would like to at least tell me little about it. Backpacking seemed ambiguous for me. Is it a dangerous or risky activity that requires male companions? How dangerous is it? I love traveling and I wish to be well-guided. Thanks

errrr, backpacking basically means........(hope i got it right)

travelling on a low budget, hence, you'll be walking around a lot, you'll be staying in economic motels, and of coz, you won't be guided by a tourist guide coz they are expensive

so doing all these in a foreign country, it's not mandatory to have male companions but don't you think it's safer?

Is it safe for women to backpack?

I think it's ok for women to go backpacking with or without a male companion. Just as long you won't go alone. Also you got to practice a few safety tips such as don't wear jewellery that could attract unwanted attraction. And bring along a paper spray, just in case. :D
