Who is the greatest football player in the world?

I know that the issue was put to rest by the not so convincing 'Greatest Football Player of All Time' award by FIFA but still, there is enough scope for a valid argument.

As a player Pele could score a goal with any part of his body. On the other hand Maradona was the best controller & passer of the ball.

Pele used to hit the most accurate headers (Maradona was too short for that) while Maradona made the most sublime of passes

Pele was an out-&-out striker while Maradona played as a striker as well as a playmaker

One of the basic differences between the two was that Pele was a team player while with Maradona, you could pass him the ball and expect to to receive it at the opposition's penalty box

you could attribute the fact that Pele played with the greatest Brazilian team of all time to his winning of 4 world cups. Well...Maradona won only one.

Different styles, different traits yet the most minutely scrutinised comparisons. Who's your pick?

Why not convincing, this award has been given out to many people right, and at that time of receiving, the one who receives it is the greatest player, so, why would you say it's not convincing?

I DON'T THINK IS ANY OF THEM. I THINK ITS RONALDINHO. THOUGH HE DIDN'T PLAY HIS BEST AT THE WORLD CUP, HE NOW SHOWS HE'S THE GREATEST FOOTBALLER EVER.

Ronaldo has helped Brazil alot through the years. Even though he's probably on the decline now he definately deserves consideration to be one of the greatest of all times. Zidane is alright but I don't think he's one of the best all time. He is a legend for his country though. And yes, Ronaldinho is also a great player.
