Maintaining a long-term health and fitness plan

I've been going to gyms and yoga places regularly for quite a number of years, and one thing I always notice is that in January, it's always absolutely packed with people. This is quite annoying, because it means I sometimes have to miss out on my favourite class because it's full, or I have to do the class with a face full of other people's elbows.

By the end of January, numbers always begin to dwindle, and usually by around the middle of February it's completely back to normal. This leads me to conclude that the average person's New Year's resolution to get fit lasts around six weeks.

If you want to be fit and healthy, and going to the gym is something you think you might enjoy doing on a regular basis, don't make a big thing out of it, just go along, sign up and get started. If you find you like it and it makes you feel good, keep going. Any time of year is a good time to start.

Healthy diet

You need a healthy diet even more when you're going to the gym!

Doing moderate or heavy exercise can put a lot of stress on your body, so good nutrition is even more important.

There's never any substitute for eating properly, no matter what else you're doing!
