I don't recommend what the previous post suggested! keeping the handbrake on! as most cars esp. the uk have their handbrake connected to the rear wheels.
there is also 3 types of cars, the most common is the first:
Front engine / Front wheel drive
Front engine / Rear wheel drive
Rear engine / Rear wheel drive
only the rear wheel drive vehicles will spin the rear wheels, that is why they call it rear wheel drive!
the foot brake pedal esp. in the uk is connected to the front wheels
therefore to spin the rear wheels then the handbrake has to be released, as it will stop the wheels from spinning, or just totally ruin the hand brake.
to get the rear wheels to spin then you need to put you foot on the brake pedal, and with the same foot, you need it at about 45 degree angle over the accelerator pedal
selecting the revs, let the handbrake off (as the brake pedal will hold you as long as you are pressing it hard enough), now let the clutch out, pretty fast for the first part, otherwise the wheels will just try to push the car forward.
and there you have it, the rear wheel spin!
warning! do not do it too often! as it will burn out the clutch, and do not do it for too long! as it will burn about 100miles/75km's a second out of the tyres.
