Bogus work at home offers

There are so many work at home offers that are not really a good deal. Often times they require you to pay money up front. I am posting this so when any one finds a bogus work at home deal we can post them here.

I think this could save people alot of time and money. Instead of finding out the hard way that a deal was bogus, people could just look at our posts here and see what others are saying about a particular work at home deal.

So post all your horror stories here!

Work at home scams

It seems there are more scams around than genuine opportunities.

A lot of these "businesses" are nothing more than thinly-disguised pyramid schemes, while some just involve punting on the stockmarket, or even the racecourse. And many make ludicrous offers of huge earnings for virutally no work, which reminds me of the adage "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is."

A worthy topic to discuss

Thank you for initiating a worthy topic for discussion. May I be permitted to add a true story which can be an eye opener to prospective investors?. Following is a true incident that occurred in Sri Lanka just a week ago. The perpetrators of this fraud were two Indian nationals. They are Dominic George alias Daniel George and Rajkumar alias Rajshekar. If you want I can send you their pictures as well. The story goes as follows:- A company by the name of Seagull Softwares (Pvt) Ltd offered people US$40/- per month per slot if they paid US$65/- per slot as registration fee. The contract was for 15 months. The work was simple. You had to find the features, specifications and/or description of five products from five urls provided by the company. This 5 product finding page was known as a slot. It took only 10 minutes to do it provided you had an ADSL telephone line for high speed internet connection. People registered for multiples of slots. Anyone registering for 10 slots would get US$ 400 per month. They did pay as promised for 9 moths. Then all of a sudden the owners vanished from the scene leaving over five thousand people standard. During the month of October alone over 1000 persons had registered for an average of five slots. It is estimated that they swindled over US$ 1.0 Million! Therefore, be vigilant of easy money schemes, particularly if you are asked to part with any registration fee to begin with!

Paying to Work

A good rule of thumb is - don't ever pay to work! If an 'employer' or 'employment agent' expects you to give them money up front in exchange for the promise of a paying job, you can almost guarantee it's a scam.

that's very true sugar

I once went for an interview for a freelance graphic designer position

The work seemed easy enough, minimal catalogue designs, good price, and they even send the work to my house, and pick up from my house too, i was so excited about it, until right at the end of the interview, when they've tempted me enough to drool for the position, they finally set a so-called minimal fee of entering into the position as a deposit........

i was like, wat???

and they wanted 200 bucks, thank god, i re-evaluated the office, the people, the deal and everything else, and decided that it's not worth the risk, so i didn't pay and didn't get the job too,

I bet if i did, i would certainly be conned already by now

really lucky there hehehe
