A history of the zipper

Whitcomb Judson is known as the inventor of the zipper. However, someone before him invented it first.

Elias Howe (the inventor of the sewing machine) invented the zipper first, but he never pursued it.

Forty-four years later Whitcomb Judson came up with his version of a zipper. It was similar to Elias Howe's invention, but since he was the first to actually market his product he (Whitcomb Judson) was dubbed the inventor of the zipper.

Haha, that's pretty interesting..So I guess Elias Howe invented the zipper first but never really meant to invent it and Whitcomb Judson just came along as the inventor. What were the differences in their zippers? Do you know?
