Are you a slave to labor?

Do you consider yourself as a slave to labor? If you do, you may be spending most of your time in the office. Do you have the attitude of putting on hold everything else – including rest and recreation – for the sake of work? Have you lost touch with the family and friends? If you answered yes! to my questions, watch out! You might fall victim to burnout.

You only have one body, and one life to either abuse or waste up. Besides, what is the use of wealth if your rapport with your family is put at stake? I cannot blame you, I myself, has been a slave to labor. Yet, I am trying hard to balance work, pleasure, and family. I realized the importance of rest and recreation when I got ill. I was advised not to over-work my body and mind because that might lead me towards my end.

Being a slave to labor is sometimes is inevitable

Well, I need the income; so I am still working now... However, I see to it that I give myself some time to relax. I no longer overwork myself that much. Yet, there are times when I have to meet some deadline or when I am unsatisfied of the output, that I still sleep late.

I have been used to working my mind that much; that I sometimes forgot to award myself with some rest. Good thing, my family keeps on reminding me that I need to rest and relax because I am just human. I am not a robot, which can work 24/7.

Half of all Americans are unhappy in their jobs, according to findings by the Conference Board, a New York-based business research group. In addition, most people can expect three to five career changes and 10 or more job changes in their working years, reports the U.S. Department of Labor.
