Yes it is possible, but I dont think the process is reversible or (easy to reverse to the older Bios version). Anyway, if you didn't do this before, don't do it.
With overclocking you might speed up the performance but will increese the temperature also. By my opinion it isn't necessary. Better way is to add more RAM than mess with overclocking (and more safe). Some motherboards don't allow to change the frequencies/voltages need to overclock the processor, but some have this option both in the BIOS or the jumpers (DIPs) on the motherboard itself.
But my advice to You is not to mess with this. If you try to do and don't work and something goes wrong you'll loose your waranty and your computer will not work.
