Bios update?

Hello I've heard that it is possible to update the computer's bios? Is it possible? And is it safe? I'm particularly interested in the option other bioses have known as overclock. I can't overclock my CPU with the bios I have when I bought the computer. And one more thing if I'm not satisfied with the update can I revert back to my old bios?

Yes it is possible, but I dont think the process is reversible or (easy to reverse to the older Bios version). Anyway, if you didn't do this before, don't do it.

With overclocking you might speed up the performance but will increese the temperature also. By my opinion it isn't necessary. Better way is to add more RAM than mess with overclocking (and more safe). Some motherboards don't allow to change the frequencies/voltages need to overclock the processor, but some have this option both in the BIOS or the jumpers (DIPs) on the motherboard itself.

But my advice to You is not to mess with this. If you try to do and don't work and something goes wrong you'll loose your waranty and your computer will not work.

Hm. Thanks for the info. I've gathered money and bought myself a couple of new components and now I have a completely different bios. It suits my needs and as you noted I won't have to overclock and thus increasing temperature and shortening the life of my CPU.
