A couple of questions

Hi. First off what's does DDR and DDRII differ much I mean is the productivity of the DDRII much higher than the DDR? And about motherboards what is better, thinking in perspective - a 939 socket or an AM2 socket? I've found a nice MB with a 939 socket and I'll buy some AMD CPU.

DDR has its name because it can output data twice faster than SDRAM of the same frequency. That is, twice per clock cycle, on the signal’s rising and falling edges. But these data should be taken from somewhere, yes? The developers went for a trick: the memory cells are working at the same frequency, but the internal bus is wider to boost the data-transfer rate inside the chip. The key principle of DDR2 is easy to understand once you learn what DDR SDRAM is. Like with DDR, the internal bank issues data to the I/O buffers along a broad 64-bit 100MHz internal bus. But now the data go from the buffer at a faster and narrower bus (16 bit, 200MHz), which uses the Double Data Rate trick. Thus, we achieve a resulting data-rate frequency of 400MHz.

And about the processors you asked , I think intel and amd both are good . depends on you completely which one you want to go for .These new processors face some daunting challenges. Intel is well ahead of AMD in manufacturing technology right now, and the latest Pentiums manage to bring higher performance, lower power use, and smaller thermal envelopes than the "Hot'n'Loud" Pentiums of the 90-nanometer era. At the same time, Intel has slashed prices like a used car salesman after a hail storm, making its Pentium D series a better value than ever. Not only that, but these Socket AM2 processors will have to fend for themselves against Intel's upcoming Conroe processor, all but assured to set new standards for high performance and low power consumption when it hits the market in a month or two.

This is a great effort that you have undertaken, particularly for the novices who are going to get a new PC for themselves the information here are going to help them immensely. Then again this saves them from the trouble to be dependent on people who would assemble the PC for them. Getting to know the details also helps for rectification of future problems related to hardware.
