E-business and globalization
E-commerce covers all situations where the supplier and customer are both organizations rather than individuals. This can involve: Service such as finance, training or recruitment, Minor consumables such as stationery or office equipment, Major components, raw materials and capital equipment, Logistics services such as warehousing and delivery.
It should be recognized that an organization engaging in e-commerce appears as large as its website. The consequence of this is that any organization that engages in e-commerce immediately becomes a global business.
Experience has shown that customers any very intolerant of sites that limit then range of their product or service. Such disclaimers as “not available outside the EU” tend to receive a very adverse reaction from internet users.
Technology also gives organization the opportunity to become global. Even relatively small organizations can employ, or engage the service of, staff in different countries.
