What's your opinion about SUV cars

Did you guys know that in England, SUV's are referred to by a spokesman from the third party in UK politics as "the most anti-social and ecologically unsound vehicles ever invented" ?

Hell what a way to say it, I drive a sedan now and i'm pretty happy with it, after reading the whole article on SUV, I don't really feel like getting it though I know it's great for travelling in groups. What's your take on this from other parts of the world

The 2006 Mitsubishi Montero rocks!

Just to let you know, that was old news,
just get this Mitsubishi Montero, test drive it, you'll love it!

It's got high-quality interior materials, sharp cabin design, large cargo capacity, and excellent off-road capability.

From what I've read about,
on the road, its suspension is firm enough to keep it under control during evasive maneuvers, just don't expect carlike handling.

The Montero's off-road ability is exceptional. Whether it's rugged washboard pathways, fast fire roads or technical rock-strewn riverbeds, the 2006 Mitsubishi Montero never flinches as it stays the course.

So, if you need something to give that kind of power on the road, look no further. As for me, I'm still drooling about buying one. lol

I hate 4WD's (SUV's)

Four wheel drive vehicles burn more fuel, create more pollution and cause more damage in accidents than sedans.

Some of the 4WD's you see on the road are so enormous, they should require a truck license to drive. It's hard to see around them on the road, and in carparks.

Above all, if you're driving a sedan and you have an accident involving a 4WD, you're much more likely to be seriously injured or killed than you would in an accident with another sedan. People who drive 4WD's are trading a slight increase in their own safety for a substantial decrease in everyone else's, which is an absolute disgrace. Even worse are 4WD's with bull bars, which kill pedestrians in order to protect the front of the vehicle from being dented.

Some people have a genuine need for a large vehicle, for example, people who have six kids who all need to go to soccer practice at the same time, and farmers who need to drive offroad. If you want a 4WD because you think they make you look glamorous, or because you're a lousy driver and you'd rather kill someone else than yourself, please think again.

hei sugar,
you really hate SUVs huh?
the points you make, all negative ones lol

but you do make a few good points there,
however, if others are on SUVs while you're not, then it's more dangerous for you to be on the road isn't it, so, logically thinking, so long as there's SUVs on the roads, we should get one to better protect ourselves form them too rite? lol

i know i sound like i'm not making sense, but, let's face it, SUVs are approved and they will be here for a long long time, so, what should we do then huh, fear them? or join them?

SUV's, and more of them

Unfortunately, what you're describing is basically an arms race. You need an SUV to protect yourself from SUV's, so everyone gets an SUV, even though it means everyone is less safe than they would be if everyone just drove an ordinary sedan.

Then there's the environmental side to the issue aswell - we'll all be creating more pollution and more demand for gas than ever.

I'll never join them! Never, I say! A pox on the house of all SUV manufacturers!

I'd like to see government legislation to at least limit them, although I realise I'm probably fighting a pretty big uphill battle.

I think big families don't necessarly need a SUV, they could buy a Van or a small bus.

And it's not only farmers that have to go off-raod that would need a SUV. Also people living in region where they have a lot of mudd or snow need a SUV because it makes them able to get where they need to be and don't get stuck on the way there.

As an American who lives in a rural area, I need my SUV. I have 2 boys, a german shephard and a parrot and there is still not enough room when we travel. My SUV is not huge and is not that bad on gas. I'd love to have a smaller car that is better on gas and my pocket, but where is everybody supposed to go, on the roof? I also have a boat that we trailer around with my car. If you have any better ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Personally, I like SUV's cause they have space and you can get more done with them. I get the fact that they are really big, but I am helpful. But, when I am driving some other car on the road, I'd prefer that the other drivers have normal cars, cause the bigger cars they have the harder it is for me to drive.

A mini bus? Come on now, who wants to be seen in such a contraption? Certainly not I. And I know my 17 year old son would rather give up all his electronics before he would be seen in it. In fact, I would shave my head like Britney before I would ride in one of those. My hair would grow back faster than I'd be able to get rid of the damn thing.
It sounds so 60's. Remember the Mystery Bus on Scooby Doo? hahahaha. I will be Daphne.

Haha yeah true. I barely see mini buses anymore, and thats obviously cause no body wants one. I guess they were good when they were around, but now with vans and SUVs, they simply just lost the competition.

If you had to choose one, what would it be, a mini bus or a mini van? They are both pretty fruity to be seen driving. I guess I would choose the mini van. It is the lesser of two evils. I never understood the passion for cars. As long as I don't look like a dork driving it and it gets me where I am going, it's good enough for me. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a cherry red 69 Mustang, but we all have dreams.

If I had to choose between a mini bus or mini van I'd deffinately say mini van. Yeah you're right, it is the less fruitier of the two. I'd rather be seen driving a mini van than a mini bus. As for the passion for cars, I've always understood that. I've always wanted a BMW or Mercedes convertible.

Are you a male? Most males are into the whole "auto-motive" thing. My best friend and I used to drive around in this hot black convertible. It was some kind of muscle car and it was a real beauty. Now we were young and beautiful at the time, and do you know that whenever we drove in that car not one guy would look at us. It was all for the car baby.

Yeah I'm a male. And I am into the whole "auto-motive" thing. I'm guessing your a female? Yeah I guess it's pretty wierd when you see a girl driving a car that's hotter than yours. Personally, its kind of embarassing for me. If I'm driving some normal car and the chick next to me is in some convertible and looks at me and speeds off, thats pretty embarassing.
