Feasts of saints

I know festivals strengthen one's cultures and it even imbibes bond to among the people. Yet, do we really have to annually celebrate them, as what? As manifestation of faith, of solidarity. Other religions do not agree with these celebrations. In fact, the money that you could spend in cooking variety of dishes and in spending to a lot more as part of your hospitable preparations for your visitors who are coming from any parts of the world; can be better spent to something valuable.

What do you think? Are you in favor of festivities?

Celebrating Saints

In a way you are right. In my culture, we have Home Saints celebration. People here make feasts sometime so great, that they miss the point of festivities. It seams sometime that feast is only meaning of celebration.

But it is not like that. If you are a christian, what is more important then to read a Bible (if not every day) at least on that day? To pray to God? Or remeber what that Saint have done, why is he/she saint and how can you be better Christian? Is there anything more important?

Science fiction? You mean "The hichhikers' Guide to the Galaxy" (By Douglas Adams)? Yes very important book for us who want to travel the Universe!
or maybe Isak Asimov's books, or Arthur Clark's?
Yes, those are veeeeery important books for me too. But, if you celebrate saints festivities the most important book ON THAT DAY IS BIBLE. Any other day, you can read other books too. At least I do so.
