geee, i'd love to share, but sadly, there ain't much we do with Christmas, when i was a kid, we still have a nice christmas tree with blinking lights, recently gave that away coz it was sitting in the store room for some time already, so, nothing much we do these days,

what do you do for christmas?

I have children and grandchildren so we do get together and have dinner the son's do the football watching and us girls make the dinner. Afterwards we take the kids out side and hope there is enough snow and build snowmen and have snowball fights.

Also the night before christmas some of us get in cars and go look at the sites of the town and city of christmas lights. Usually the main park here makes a nice chistmas light show in the park we go and visit.

long christmas celebration

christmas is a long celebration in our country, the street foods which is only available on ber months started last month, the sellers starts their store hour at 6pm to 5am the next day.....
but the main event starts 9 days before christmas where most of us my mother in law and other female in laws will wake up at 3am to prepare for a 4am mass everyday for 9 days..... what makes it diffrent, we walk from our house to the church then goes back after the mass with native delicacies available only on ber months, then we will eath together after that back to our homes for work.
Then midnight of dec.24,we attend again mass this time everybody must attend including our youngest kid, all members of the family must be complete after that the what we call noche buena....
What makes it special, whether you're rich or poor, young or old this tradition is handed to us from generation to generation...
Its a family reunion for all even you only have some tasty bread and coffee, its enough what matter most is not the food but we as one family, forget whatever differences we have in the past for it is the birth of christ, we must be spiritually prepared for this unconditional gift of love of God to mankind.......
this reason lets invite christ in our homes to be center of the celebration, specially that its his birthday we must prepare a gift for him, thats ourselves

Leng thanks for the information, sounds like you have long christmas..usualy ours is only celebrated on the one day
people do prepare ahead of time with gifts, sweets and meal preperations.
But unfortuanatly christmas here in our country has really lost it meaning and is more commericalized with gift giving then the reality and real mean ing of christmas.....

yes

yes... we have a long christmas celebration here.....and christmas here are meant for children when it comes to material things, they expect gifts from santa claus and for parents like us....... what is important is the sacrifice of attending mass at dawn to wait for the coming of Jesus.
maybe we treasure most our time with baby Jesus because of the poverty in our country, here we are all hopeful and cheerful....
we smile and laugh alot.....
most of all because of the technology..... texting is everywhere.
I personally can have a minimum of 10/day or if you need to send messages on christmas day we will all send to those written in our phonebook

merry christmas to all

Freddie I have to agree with you alot on just smile and laughing and being happy is enough. Unfortanatly for some of us, the society we live in has made chirstmas more than just that. I guess to try and explain to the children that there is no more gift giving and how idea of santa and all would be pretty hard since the children in diffrent parts of the world believe the same. So some of us still have the Christmas to celebrate as we always have.

yeah, i recall the scene in desperate housewives where lynette threatened her kids that she will tell santa about their bad behaviours and thus ask him not to give them christmas presents unless they behave lol

and they bought it!
