I know in Malaysia they have like a total of 26 public holidays, can't remember all of them though, they have many races there, and the main races there all get their cultural festivities declared as one or two days of holidays at least hehehe

India is a country of festivals. We have festivals for almost every occassion.

neways, July to November is the peak season for these.

but the two most popular festivals are Holi & Diwali.

Holi is celebrated in mid March and Diwali in October-November.

First Holi: Hoil is a festival of colors. Full of colors. A mythological story is behind this festiv. Its a long story will tell u later.
Ok, what we do on holi. We take colors mix it into water and just color each and every person we meet on that day. Most fav. quote on that day is
Quote:
Bura na mano holi hai
.It means, don't mind its HOLI. In older days we used to use colors from flowers but now-a-days every color which is available in market is used. Believe me on that day it becomes sometimes impossible to identify your wife/husband. One time I had seen a person asking her wife.
Quote:
Bahan ji, Kya kaam hai aapko
It means, sister what can i do for you.
Full of enjoyment.
In the evening also we enjoy colors after bath. But this time it is dry colors. Some realy nice foods are being made. Children are the one who enjoy it at its best. My favourate one is this HOLI.

freakyfreddie hi where are you from again. I am not sure if you said or I do not remember.

We in the states have lots of holidays we celebrate and get off of work for. Starts in Jan and goes though the year.
The major ones is the only ones we get.
Jan 1st we get for the New year.
March or April Easter depends when it falls
May for Memorial Day to remember the fallen soliders
July 4th Celebrate the birthday of the US
Frist Monday in Sept that is for Labor day
Nov the last Thursday for Thanksgiving
Dec 25th Christmas
We have few others but are not paid for or get off for. Some of them some of the goverment offices are closed that day.

fadyllan That would be great if you did do a list of your holiday's and post them here that way we would all know when they were and ask about them if we are not sure what they are or how they are celebrated...
