Why do guys love the Playstation so much?

It just a stupid game console,
but guys can be so addicted to it, it's crazy don't you think

ever watched "Prime" starring Uma Thurman?
in one of the scenes, she was wondering what to buy for her much younger bf, and her fren asked "do you like sex?"

what she meant was, if you want more sex, don't get him a playstation, and true enough, she got him one, and he was busier playing it than making love to her, silly isn't it?

could playstations be better than making love, it's totally silly, god, and they say women are difficult to understand, come on, men choosing those games instead of making love? now is that easily understood then?

I'm a woman and I love all sorts of gaming consoles, Playstation included. It's pretty sad that you think it's limited to one gender, and generalize so widely. Do people even think before they post topics here...? It might be what YOUR boyfriend is doing, but everyone is different.

Well, guys can only make love once / day (more or less), but what do you do for the rest of the time?? Playstation of course!!

I myself have completely grown out of playing games, but then I can understand how it can be extremely addictive and FUN!!

zeehuh is rite that girls are also starting to play as much computer games as guys today so you can't generalize on gender anymore.

The only games that should be kept off the shelve are those really violent ones where you chop people up with parangs and see blood splatter all over the place. When kids play these games, I think they become more violent as they grow up. Games, like TV or Movies have great incluence on society. Again, it's not the technology that's to blame, but content.

The question should be more why do people get addicted to doing anything in the first place. It isn't just pleasure they are after. Though my opinion as to why people (and me) like these games is that they let you do things that you could not ordinarily do. Rpgs are extremely popular becuase in this day and age there is no real advanture, no unkowns nothing left to explore. You just spend all of your time in a drab gray city. Violent games are popular becuase , well, humans evovled with violence(if you believe in evolution). We have in the past always had to fight for food or for our survival. Nowadays, you don't. Even with gangs and wars it is still far more peacefull in this day and age then all of history. Also, we no longer have anything to do, even with full-time jobs we still have loads of free-time. people of the past have always had something to do, they even had to sew their own clothing instead of buying it. Boredom is becoming a disease.

Should guys love the Playstation so much?

Let's talk about doing higher value tasks for example.
Citing example from management courses I've been to before, the instructor was saying that we should be doing more higher value tasks then lower value ones, in brief, if we could work on project A for 101 bucks a day, and Project B for 200 bucks a day, the obvious choice would be Project B, coz it's higher in value rite?

so, back to Playstations, playing games versus spending intimate time with your partner, or anything else of higher value, shouldn't that be an obvious choice as well, but yet, guys choose the games more often, i guess it's a sign of addiction already

Yes you should spend time with your partner, but there can be such a thing as too much time with someone. If a guy truely spent all of his free time hanging out with his partner within three days the words 'your smothering me' are going to come up.

Just like working too much. A workaholic's going to burn out eventually, so working too much no matter how much money you're making isn't worth it.

I guess my response is, it's cool to play the playstation, be with your partner and work, just do everything in moderation.

With what has been said before, this is to escape reality. What, would you rather have us shoot people or run pedestrians over in real life? Of course not.

Hey, timeout now. I don't know what is the problem of you girls. console games are made for entertainment and these are something which one should play when he/she is alone and want to spend some time with fun. Think about a situation, you partnour is out of station and he can't meet you for a week or so. What would you do now. You will try to make youself busy with some kinda work. Then what is the harm in playing these games. I don't see any and I mean to say anything bad in these games.
