I want your advice!

Have u all heard of Board of Directors??? They are the one who makes policies to the institution they belong to..Well, thats what I've learned...But I'm just wondering... where do their power/authority ends? I mean, where is too far going too far..(do u know what i mean). Coz as some of u knw, im having a hard time adjusting to my new job in terms of the BOD. I guess they are going too far.. and they are really being unfair from my point of view.. since they make all the policies and resolution.. When it comes to their advantage, they easily can make a certain resolution. But when it comes to the employees, they do nothing about it. My co-workers have been working for almost a year and still they dont have an appointment, but they are now regular employess.. so there wage was stuck in the minimum wage instead of the basic salary(coz they dont have a new appointment). and in the policy, all regular employees should be given a uniform allowance... but till right now, they didnt get it.. coz the board is not discussing it.. and if the manager try to brought it up, they will just ignore it.... That sucks.... coz from where i worked before.. things is not working this way..

Rocky this is a hard one ...frist we are all from diffrent countries and we all have diffrent rules and regulations....

One thing I would do is you should check out of the place of work for information on who is controling the working conditions and who make the rule as that went.

If the bod made the rule and not sticking to it ..i know here where i live we have an outside source that will contact them and get them to cooperate with thier rule...but beware as you know could mean your job but assome say ya but the others will benifit...

check out and see if you can find a source frist out side of the work place that can help or give you suggestions as far as the rules and regualtions in your country what can and can not be done...

If you get stuck with finding one or not sure where to look let meknow see what i can find for you ok

as Peachey mentioned am not also sure about the law about it but as far a BOD are concerned, I had an experienced to be a part of a cooperative. I think it differs bet. coop BOD and company BOD... anyways what I understand about is is that during BODs the General Manager represents the manpower of the company, the GM will present things concerning all aspects of the business and the board will make policies and will amand certain rules that needs changes. and there a series of deliveration before it will be adopted into a final board resolution sometimes it needs the consent of the group(for coops) or the employees

hi there!
I think the best way that you can do is to write a letter address to the board, it must be signed by the majority of your group. then be willing to have a dialog with them, and also they must realized that without the help of the employees or staff their company won't be a success and if there's an executive committee, they must be the one who will help you with the board....
every problem has a solution, maybe the inputs given to the BOD are not the same with the needs you ewant them to know ....

Leng thanks for jumping in here and helping rocky with this problem.
With some of us as I said are from diffrent countries and not knowing thier laws it is difficult to help out.

But I know you are from the same country so I am sure the both of you can talk which I have seen and work on this to help Rocky and her friends find a solution to the problem.

Hang in there Rocky things will get better and sounds like Leng has some good advice or knows how this works

hi peachey,
thanks.... I don't know if rocky and I came from the same country but thats How I understand it base on my experience in community service... anyways
Rocky.... if nothing helps try this last one... write a letter address to the department of Labor, you must be protected by its laws or better yet if you are agressive enough why not ask the help of media but before doing that you should be 100% sure of the rights you are fighting for....
but then remember try to have an open forum first with the BOD

humpty but it is not right that a company does this to people and should be taken care of....

So you are saying you would just quit your job and go to another and not say anything????

Hey hey hey.. sorry it took me awhile to be back here.. and thank u all for ur support and advice.. well, as of the moment we have talked to the audit dept and to the dept of labor. we wil have a BOD meeting this 14.. it will be interesting.. anyways, im applying for another job.. if things wil work out in diff direction.. so no worries.. humpty..

a coop is owned by the ppl or its members, the BOD is a member and some of my co-workers are members so they are both owners and have equal rights. since i or we are in the mgnt.. we make sure that the policies are being followed, but we saw some discrepancies thats why we are making this step.. what we did was for the members coz we are being compensated by them to do this.. to manage the coop and generate income for them.. we just hope that this time.. things will work out fine..

anyways.. thanks again...

*hugs
