Has anyone had an imaginary friend or companion

A thought went through my mind while I was watching this Movie in which this kid has an imaginary playmate.
The doctor tells the mother that its quite normal and that at a young age most children do have them.

This doesnt seem like a very normal thing and I dont seem to know anyone who has had these kind of friends. Yet in the movies are replete with children and imaginary friends.

Anybody who has had these friends can you tell us what its like. I mean are they talking about children day dreaming about someone of is it this physically present individual that they cannot distinguish from other real people.

I may be a victim of that.
I mean, I chated with a girl who didn't exist in this world.
Her name was Nazia naaz.
I met with her in mid may'06.
and lasted till mid june'06.

I never had one but had a brother that did ..this friend even had a spot in the car to sit and gosh did not dare to sit on him lol......

You mean she was actually a guy or something? or were you imagining it?

Lol peachy thats real funny,I wonder what would have happened if you did sit on him in his spot...does the imaginary friend get squished or just pass through you like a ghost.

I still dont get this concept...do they day dream them or do they actually see these people....freaky stuff if you ask me.
