Grass-fed beef is healthier than factory-farmed beef
Most of the beef that we eat comes from "factory farms," where the cows are fed grain. Recently, though, grass-fed beef, which comes from cows that are allowed to graze naturally in pastures, started becoming more popular. Grass-fed beef is more expensive than the regular old beef we are used to, but it's starting to catch on because it is healthier.
Grass-fed beef has more Omega-3 than factory-farmed beef. Omega-3 is one of the "good" fats that is believed to be helpful for preventing everything from depression to cancer to heart disease. Many people eating an American-style diet are deficient in Omega-3. Grass-fed beef is also better than factory-farmed beef because it has more Vitamin E and more CLA (conjugated linoleic acid, another good fat that is believed to protect against cancer).
Another way to avoid factory-farmed beef is to substitute a different kind of meat in your meals, such as skinless chicken or turkey. These are better choices because they have less saturated fat (the "bad" fat). Ground turkey is convenient to use. It's rather bland and unappealing when cooked up on its own, but if you use it as an ingredient in a tomato sauce, just the way you would use ground beef, it's quite tasty when served over pasta. :P
