Y frens lie just 2 protect themselves?

i just dun get it...she can just change the story anyhow n betray a best fren just becos she dun1 2 admit the truth...she can even ask her mum 2 come n confront 2 everybody n tell lies 2 her mum i hate it...y must she do this...is she a coward or wad?
