Audio cds are dead?

Dont you think that nowdays with the audio cassetes being a dead technology, that audio cds are the next thing to die?

Why would anyone want to put 10 songs on a CD when they can now put 150 of them on an MP3 CD....

Should we just stop buying CDs and Cassete players and switch to mp3 or do you think the record industry would be able to resseruct the Audio CD..

Personally I feel that we shoudl Kill off all the Old and bring in MP3!

I don't know about this, what would artists release then ? No artist would release a CD with 150 songs on them ? I don't think the audio CDs will die that soon. I think they will stay for a lot more years. I think MP3 is kind of still in growing process and is not ready to take over yet.

lol good one huh,
what would artists release if not cds lol

but a lot of them are selling their songs on iTunes and other big n reputable music download websites,

CDs "might" really die out soon, not really that soon but it's a definite possible thing, I think

Well now that dvds are there...i dont remeber the last time i burnt an Audio cd....it might as well be a floppy disk now :? .
But i think artist can definately improve the marketibilty of their albums by switching over to dvd and putting in more stuff like movies , interviews etc.

Here in India I wouldnt even dream of buying an Audio cd for 500rs=10 dollars .....thats just way too much.
But if they gave some added incentives, well then I would consider it.

Yeah Humpty .I think mp3 and internet legal downloads are the way to go now.Lets hope they speed it up . No one wants to waste any more time burning audio cds to mp3.

with the iPod growing community bigger everyday, the download community is growing just as big everyday too!

audio cds are only useful for those who choose and compile their own cds for listening in cars and such, but hey, even cars are going for mp3 players now right, so, yeah, definitely, absolutely, certainly, bla bla bla

things are goin the music download way!

This is exactly the problem in the music industry. Too many people are just downloading the songs instead of actually buying them. For artists, it would cost them more to put it on a DVD instead. So, if people are going to just download the extra stuff, what good does that do them. That is a good idea. But for them to do that, they have to make more money that way. Will they? I don't know. In my opinion, I don't think they will.

I think all new cars should have MP3 head units as standard. Cassette player? That's not even funny. Now new head units have ports for USB and iPods, thats many many gigs of music files. I guess you can circle the entire world in your car and still not finish your entire playlist! :D

Hmm, that's nice. I haven't bought a car with a USB or iPod port yet. :( . Well I understand that we have more technology all the time but the sales for music records are going to keep on going down. So the artists aren't going to be getting as much money. I don't like that, because then they won't be as motivated to produce better music. With downloading and all that, less people are going to want to buy cds. They'll probably make more money with endorsements..

Downloading has helped independent artists though. For the people who make music because of their passion, downloading has been a boon. However, I'm sure the music industry will find a way to make downloading profitable. After all, there's hardly any overhead for digital music. My little ipod shuffle goes in the car with me, even though I have to use a cassette adapter for it. I'm sure by the time I get a new car, ipod ports will be de rigeur.

The only way that downloading can be profitable, that I can think of is if they offer it to a company for a price. But here's the problem. The company who they sell it too will probably get more profit. For example, if singer A sells his song to be downloaded to company A. No one will want to buy from the singer anymore, so if company B comes along they will probably just get it off company A. The only good way to make this work is if the company gave a share of the profits to the artist?
