I'm not pregnant but...

I'm not pregnant but a friend of mine is with her first. She's not too worried about it yet but her husband keeps nagging her to call the airlines. They're planning on having their honeymoon this summer and he's heard that pregnant women shouldn't fly in planes that reach very high altitudes because they need as much oxygen as possible. Anyone heard that?

I've told her she could just ask them to release one of those yellow oxygen masks from the roof inflight for her to breath through. That wouldn't cause too much of a panic amongst other passengers would it?

Well, I guess the lesson we can all learn from that is: have sex only after your married...so at least you won't have to have problems like that when planning for your honeymoon...

Here is the breakdown on this topic.

If you are having complications during any part of your pregnancy the answer would be, "No."

However, If you are having a normal pregnancy gynecologists say that is is ok up until about 30 day before your due date.

So if you are in the last month, the answer again is, "No."

After 36 wks it is not wise to do so.

If uncomfortable with it then don't do it. There are plenty of places to take a honeymoon that you wouldn't have to fly. Also, they could put the honeymoon off until after the baby and use it as a great chance to get mom away from baby when she is ready to leave baby with family for a day or two.

This may make the honeymoon a bit more relaxing for both mommy to be and dad too.

Anytime you are in doubt you should consult your doctor and see what their opinion is and not depend on non medical advice where your pregnancy is concerned.
