Marijuana plants seized on property of 79-year-old
Law enforcement officers seized 877 marijuana plants from the property of a 79-year-old man in Itasca County Thursday morning.
According to the Itasca County Sheriff's Department, officers from the sheriff's department and Grand Rapids Police Department served a search warrant at the man's residence in Harris Township five miles south of Grand Rapids around 10:50 p.m.
Officers found the marijuana plants growing in various locations on the property. The plants ranged in height from three to six feet.
The suspect, who owns and lives on the property, was not taken into custody. When the investigation is completed its results will be sent to the County Attorney's Office for formal charges, Itasca County Sheriff Pat Medure said.
