Right to information act
Lately, Government of India enacted an act which empowers we the common citizens. It toughens against incompetent officers. In this act commonly referred as RTI Act 2005 we can know the information on any state, central, municipal governments functioning. NGOs have also been included.
Unfortunately, with growing awareness UPA government is now trying to weaken it. The union cabinet has decided to exempt file notings of officials from the Act. The only file notings that can be accessed now through the right of information will be in developmental and social issues.
We need these kind of laws to remove corruption. Any amendment to this law shows government is fumbling.
