Publishing your own ebooks

Hey, if you're looking to go into the ebook business or you're like a writer looking for a way to get their message out there and don't know how to get your book into an ebook format without incurring heavy costs? Well, Adobe offer a free service whereby they can cnvert your work from any format into a pdf document and bingo...you've got yourself an ebook and for free as well. Not bad, eh?

Well, basically now your book is in an accepted electronic format so now you can sell it via the many ebook sites that offer ebook sales services for free or you could sell it on ebay. Be sure to copyright and secure your book from copying and pasting and other infringements.

ebooks

Hi,

I have a book or two that I'm looking to sell. What sites have you heard of that we can post our books on? I'm currently using a site called Lulu.com

You can post just about anything on there from music, to books to creating your own calendars to sell. It looks nice but you really got to hype the book in advertising to sell anything.

Just simply do a google search and you should be able to find ebook selling sites for your book...I've heard about Lulu, but the thing is, you can do all of it yourself if you know how...be your own publisher.

ebooks

Thanks,

I've been working on Lulu for a while now but I just don't get the options I'd prefer to have in creating a book cover. It's great that I can post stories and things for free for people to buy but some of the options are a little bit limited as far as making it look snazzy.

Well, if your selling an ebook, you don't really need to have a cover...not really. What you really need is a good website to promote the book. There are lots of easy-to-use and free website creators you can use like: www.piczo.com...
Check out my site that promotes my published novel and my ebook: www.messengeroffire.piczo.com
It might give you some ideas.

I think the problem with ebooks is that they have gained a reputation as beeing poorly written with not much in the way of original content that you can't get free somewhere else.

I know a guy who spent $10 on one that promised all these secrets about success in business. When he started reading it, he found out it was all just stuff he could get on pretty much any business web site.

I think the best-selling ebook I've heard about was that one that Stephen King published a few years back - he published it online first, with no print edition.

Poor quality

I think you're right about ebooks - a lot of the time they're just books which would never get published any other way because they're of such poor quality.

It's a shame, because the internet could be a fantastic resource for publishing all kinds of books - you can include features in ebooks you can't in ordinary print books.

I think the ebook publishing thing on the internet works very well on mini-sites.

To learn about this, you need to learn from the pros who are experts in dealing with these kinda business, the ebook publishing and selling it off on the internet business.

For example, you can look for people like Marlon Sanders, Yanik Silver, Ewen Chia, Johan Mok, Jeff Johnson and many many more. These are all people who're making money on the internet by selling information products or "how to" ebooks.

Their best strategy is to find a hot market, write or get freelancers to write a book about it, add in audio and video with an expert on the certain topic, then sell it off via a 2-page website, the landing page would be a long sales letter with product description, testimonials and such, then, when you're ready to buy it, you just click on the buy button and pay, and download your ebook, simple, automated shipping, costing you almost zero maintenance on your part, except for hosting your website and such.

for an example of something like this, click here
I just received an email announcing the product launch,

if you want to learn from these professionals, then I'd recommend Marlon Sanders, simply because he is a real pro, no BS products, like selling you something like a teaser instead of the full product hoping you'd buy more,
you can check out one of his best selling products here

hope you all would comment more about your views on this publishing thing, it sounds very interesting I'd say, writers can benefit so much from this, wish I was a writer myself lol

My experience with most of these kind of sites is that they are selling sizzle and no steak - they get site visitors hooked by playing to their greed or their fear or whatever other base emotion they can tap into and then offer them a product that they say will meet their needs. Not much different that traditional advertisinig, I'll admit, but it's done with little oversite, little quality control.

I go back to my earlier post - I think e-books have earned a reputation for being a scam. Plus, their purveyors really mess up the utility of search engines by pushing their crap to the top of the search engine rankings. If you really, truly wanted to find online information about a popular topic like, say, real estate, you're going to find yourself slogging through a lot of sites that have little content related to the topic - mostly just a pitch for another e-book or some other product.
