Astrology and metaphysics

I've been fascinated by astrology. And I am not referring to the crap you read from the daily papers. So far, my study of the subject has been quite fruitful, and gained a deeper understanding of how some of us are made.

Astrology is fuzzy logic too. Fuzzy as the houses on the radix has multiple meanings. And with that in mind, there is a tendency to believe that one should have fuzzy thinking to be any good at it javascript:emoticon('')

I never believed in something until I first reseached it myself. I keep and open mind and find out what is true, and have that verified. Sad to say, I wish more people would take notice of what astrology can tell them about their lives. It sure would have saved me a train load of pain if I took it up earlier.

Bernard,

It's good that you have an open mind about things. I, too have studied astrology greatly and I have a degree in computer science. However, astrology have nothing to do with fuzzy logic.

Astrology, if you learn it carefully has nothing to do with any kind of truth whatsoever. Astrology is about 'cold reading'. Ie, you write something that basically appeals to most, and then net them down.

Did you also know that the planets have shifted since astrology was invented? Ie, if you're an aries today, you're actually a taurus. So, how can anything be accurate? Even if astrology is true, everyone is now believing in something completely false about themselves and still think it's true.

I have done many experiments with astrology and numerology. I have on purpose wrote false charts for people and most of them would agree that my charts are 95% accurate about them. For those who believe, you can almost say anything and they'll find a way to believe it. It's no different from religion. Even when the facts are known, people will still rationalize things to fit things that do not fit.

Astrology, numerology, psychic, religion, etc all works on the same principles:

1. Start with false beliefs (in astrology, it's the belief that planets have influence on our lives and in religion there's a book that's written by god and we are to follow it's teachings).
2. Create an escape hatch. Introduce 'faith'. So, if something don't seem right or have been proven to be false, then the whole thing won't work if we don't have faith. Such as faith healing. If you are not healed, then it's not god's fault, but your own cause you probably don't have enough faith.
3. Utilize logic to arrive at conclusions that may also be false because the start is basically false.
4. Self fulfilled propheycy principle. If we believe in something truly, we'll work towards that goal. So, if you tell someone he's going to be rich and lead a fruitful life, then he's gonna have a great outlook in life and work towards that goal. And in voodoo, if someone believes they are cursed, a lot of times they will die also due to fulfilling that prophesy.

The only way to escape from being fooled is to have a strong education in 'logic and critical thinking' and equip oneself with all sorts of knowledge.
