One more tip I would like to add is recognize and prepare for opportunity , in the heat of the project its to late to recognize you may have a key skill missing. If you are using new technology acquire the skills through advisers, pilot projects and prototypes. Prepare your team by training, reading, experimenting on small scale and absorbing knowledge from experts.
