No flip-flops at work ?

I have just read today that fashion gurus say you shouldn't wear flip-flops at work because it can destroy your career.

A woman that wrote a book about what your shoes say about you thinks that wearing flip-flops mean you are relaxed and in a vacation mood when you wear them, and that is not good for the office.

They think flip-flops are going out of fashion anyway because they have been "in" for already 5 years and that is normally the age were thing get "out". For me i think they are not going to be out of fashion, because they are just so comfortable and have been around for about 50 years in all cultures !

I think flip-flops are great for going to the beach or for wherever you go in your private time, but I think they shouldn't be worn in a office if they are these beach looking plastic ones, but well if they are really nice onces with leather or something very ellegant looking why not wear them in the office.

What do you think about it ? Should you be able to wear flip-flops in the office or should you leave them at home ?

When I was still working regularly in an office, I had to wear those awful, feet-pinching high heels, but I always try to get away with flip-flops whenever I can. But I strongly agree that your shoes and clothes say a lot about you, especially in a corporate setting. So I myself made it a point that my own flip-flops are made of leather and have short heels so I would still look "decent."[/b]

What are FLip flops.....are they sandals :?: or are they those strap on slippers ..they call those floaters here in India.

I dont think anyone would wear something like that to work. That simply seems un proffesional. But I guess that companies are now moving away from the whole image is everything mould and starting to focus on the results that an employee gives and not the way they dress etc.

Im all for a more open work culture where people can dress in a way that makes them feel comfortable.
But this can only be done in an industry where you are not interacting much with the clients. Otherwise it would create an image of being unproffesional.

hei flip flops are great only in certain situations, you're working for a japanese company... lol

kidding, it's a fashion disaster wearing flip flops to work, no taste at all!
get a grip on yourself, wear something more fashionable, look good and feel good, look sloppy with flip flops, and you're gonna turn out pretty sloppy on many other things at work too, not a good choice
