Working with tempory staffing.

In the past I have been a plant supervior at a plant. We did packaging for paper products for companies to send out promotions to stores and sales people, and customers.

At diffent times of the year the work load was heavier than normal. This meant we had to add more people on temperary to get the supply and demand in order.

The company would have local staffing agencies to send employes from thier office to help out. Sometimes this was good and other times did not work out that great.

Finding out working with temp service people can be very stressful and time consuming. Depending on the person and thier ablity to work. I found some of them to be excellent workers as others you can tell was there for the money.

Our companies really making it work by allowing a temp service come in and offering thier services? Maybe in a large setting, but what about the smaller companies? What do you think? Have you ever worked with or for a temp staffing service?

temp employee

Problem but Not really..!!
Many managers still painfully recall the last recession when they agonized over trimming payrolls. As the economy slows down, those memories are threatening to become a reality once more.Temp workers may even be able to come up with ideas that preserve jobs.
Having temporary employees can make a strategic difference in a company's all too slippery bottom line in at least five circumstances.
· Keeping afloat — Companies in the midst of layoffs or restructuring can easily cut too deeply or trim the wrong position. Although restructuring is necessary, a large volume of employees may be necessary to keep the work flowing until realignment is complete. In both cases, temps can fill the gap.
· Create a buffer — When companies take on temporary employees, they're not adding to the company's staff. That means, when times are lean, they won't have to cut back on permanent employees. This creates a buffer and helps staff feel more stable.

"Companies don't want to be hiring, then firing”
· Project by project — While temporary labor has decreased slightly over the last year, the number of project employees actually has increased. New to the temporary field in the last five years is the addition of high-level professionals, such as accountants, paralegals, medical workers and engineers, whose services are always in demand regardless of the economy's health. This also gives the temporary industry a larger pool of talent to tap from.
· Try outs — Today, companies only fill a vacancy when they're making a critical hire. So it's crucial these be superior matches, not just in skill sets, but also in personality and goals. By bringing on a project employee, employers have the opportunity to see an employee in action and feel more confident when making an offer.
· Temporary advantages — While a project employee's salary may be higher initially, they can save a company money because they depart when the work is done.

Temps are a hard subject to broach. Sometimes they're a necessity that can't be avoided.

I've had good and bad experiences with them. Often it's hard because they dont' seem to work as hard or be as passionate about what they're doing since they don't have loyalty to the company or boss. And they might not really even love what they do.

But then I've hired a few who worked exceptionally well and hard (better than my full-time staff) because they were hoping to make a good impression and get hired on full time.

So I guess it can go both ways. It so often depends on the individual and the job and the company.

hmmm well, i think different types of business would need different types of staffs, so, temporary staffs can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what type of businesses you run i guess

i think it's sometimes good it's sometimes bad.. like for example your business is like a fast food chain.. that's ok.. cause, i think, fast food chains are some company who give chance to the undergraduate high school students or the working students.. that's why they doesn't make their staffs regular to their work.. it's like, "give chance to others"
